Post Lockdown Q&A with Hatty & Emily from MacPot

After a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, months of lockdowns, tier systems and restrictions, we are all hopeful that things will get back to normal by the summer. Whilst the government has staggered its roadmap to minimise risk of even more deaths and setbacks, there finally seems to be a light at the end of this dark tunnel.

We are catching up with some of the people behind Sheffield’s independents to find out what they are looking forward to the most.

This week we spoke to Hatty & Emily from MacPot.

Hi, how have you found the past twelve months? What have you missed the most?

We’ve missed the routine, we were only just getting going in March last year and it’s been really frustrating not to build that day-to-day business. The restaurant has felt very sad and quiet at times and we can’t wait to have it full again.

What restaurant will you be going to first & what will you be eating?

We’re super excited to be able to sit in at The Orange Bird in Hillsborough – we’ve had loads of their amazing take-out food wandering around the park so it’ll be great to be able to enjoy the atmosphere as well as the tasty BBQ meats!

Where will you be having your first drink?

We’re really looking forward to some nice wine and nibbly bits (hopefully in the sunshine!) at Tonco in Sharrow Vale – we managed a few sessions in the courtyard last summer and it’ll be great to see Dyson Place all buzzy again. Obviously, our own terrace in town will be a fab place to grab a cocktail come the spring too!

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned during the past year?

That patience is not just a virtue but a way of life!

What are you most excited for when things get back to normal?

Seeing happy smiling faces around a busy bustling city! And dancing!
