The Grind

Kelham's popular cafe The Grind to close

Sad news this evening as one of Kelham Island’s first places to grab some great food won’t be reopening.

Howard and Amanda opened The Grind on Green Lane in 2010, years before the neighbourhood became foodie central. It’s been popular for both locals and visitors as the area has developed.

A Facebook statement reads

The current situation has given us an opportunity to reflect on our work / family time balance and so sadly we have decided that our time at The Grind Cafe has come to an end but someone else’s journey may be about to begin.

We opened The Grind in December 2010 in an emerging Kelham Island and over the years we are very proud to have been part of the regeneration of the area and have built up a superb reputation for amazing food and atmosphere which could not have been done without our great staff and loyal customers. It is therefore with regret that Amanda and I will not be reopening The Grind. But this doesn’t need to be the end of the story.

The Grind is a vibrant business and will have a great future with the next owners. There is still huge potential to further increase turnover as we have a full drinks license and could open in the evenings also.

If you would be interested in buying The Grind Cafe please message Howard on 07920 218 130.

We have loved our journey with The Grind and are sure that future owners will also.

Howard & Amanda”

We hope somebody takes it over and continues to offer everything we’ve loved about The Grind.
