Fitzalan Squares’ The Chakra Lounge have launched a Go Fund Me campaign to help them feed care home residents who won’t be seeing loved ones this Christmas.
They plan to deliver a meal, a bottle of drink and a gift on Christmas Eve to care homes in Sheffield and Buxton.
Chakra Lounge’s owner Sam said
“The idea came about because a lady, who had lost her husband and had no kids, came to the café with her care worker. She was celebrating her ninetieth birthday, but with her carer.
The care worker told us that this lady didn’t have anyone to visit her, apart from her weekly visits. This made me feel very numb, so we decided to contact care homes.
We discovered that in some care homes, there are people who aren’t expecting anyone to spend time with them this festive season. Either because of what’s going on with the pandemic or because they don’t have families who can come and see them.
This broke our heart, and we wholeheartedly believe that everyone deserves to be happy after the year we’ve had so we’ve decided to start a Crowfunder so that we can offer 100 care-home residents a delicious festive meal, a bottle of drink and a special gift on Christmas Eve.”
